Experienced and accredited provider of Clinical Psychology Services in the North East and across the UK
Safe Space Psychology is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and provides high quality evidence-based psychological therapy for individuals and families.
The practice is run by myself, Dr Stephanie Kelly, a HCPC registered clinical psychologist (PYL37538), with more than 9 years’ experience working within NHS services. Over the years I have worked in a wide variety of settings including acute and secure hospitals, in community mental health services as well as in custodial settings with experience supporting adults, children, adolescents and families experiencing a range of difficulties relating to their emotional and relational wellbeing.
My experience includes working with individuals with a history of severe and enduring mental illness, personality disorder, cognitive impairment, offending behaviour as well as other emotional and psychological difficulties such as complex grief, low mood, and anxiety. Working with male, female and non-binary clients, my aim is to personalise all therapeutic approaches to each individual client's specific needs.
I have a proven track record in achieving positive outcomes for individuals who suffer a range of different difficulties across the lifespan, with a particular specialism working to support clients in managing the impact of developmental and relational trauma, as well as complex PTSD. I am a DBT therapist, SCM practitioner, EMDR clinician and have foundation accreditation in Systemic and Family Practice and level two training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. Within my work I often draw upon aspects of Cognitive Behavioural, Compassion Focused and Mentalisation Based Approaches. I aim to work in an integrative manner drawing on multiple models to meet your individual and specific needs.
I am committed to ongoing professional development regularly attending training and conferences, keeping abreast of developments in research and practice and engaging in peer supervision.
Safe Space Psychology offers both face to face and online consultations, which can include comprehensive psychological assessment, developing a shared understanding of your difficulties, developing a treatment plan together and working towards reaching your own specific goals. Other professional services offered include training, clinical supervision and consultancy. As a clinical psychologist, I have helped many individuals, groups and families work toward a life worth living.
If you are looking for a psychologist for remote or face to face consultation within the Newcastle area, please contact me for an informal no obligation discussion. I aim to respond to new clients within 48 hours for an initial consultation.
